Successful day for our Arena Eventers at Wellington today.
Sara-Jane Larner and Thor placed individual 5th in a big class in the 70cm. Our 80cm team comprising Sara-Jane, Abby Ballard and Peggy and Nicole Forwell and Ted placed 5th, Abby with a clear round and Sara-Jane and Nicole both tipping the final joker fence. Everyone picked up time faults on what was quite a twisty course. Finally Mikey Winn and Jackson placed 6th in the 100cm in a fast time but with some penalties.
Well Mikey Winn and Jackson did us proud, taking individual 2nd in their arena in the 100cm National Horse Trials Championships. They were in 3rd place after day 1 with a dressage score of 28. They kept a clean sheet on day 2 and, despite the awful weather and very testing conditions, finished the xc clear and inside the time. After a nail-biting round of show jumping, they moved up to 2nd place despite having a pole down. What a fantastic result for NRC!!

Well Northwood’s fab four certainly did us proud in the 70cm Horse Trials National Championship placing a fantastic 8th out of 22 teams! Tracey Bourne and Bob finished a terrific 4th in their arena on a dressage score of 29.2 (2nd highest) with 1 fence down SJ and clear XC, just one second over the optimum time. But for that pesky pole, Tracey would have placed 1st 🙈. Sharon Wood and Molly finished 15th in their arena on a DR of 34.7, 1 pole down SJ and clear XC. Sara-Jane Larner finished 16th on a super DR of 28.2 (2nd highest in her arena) and a double clear SJ and XC. Nichola Peace and Inca finished 19th on a DR of 34.5, 1 pole SJ and clear XC.
Tomorrow, it’s all eyes on Mikey Winn and Jackson in the Area 6 100cm team. The pair are currently in 3rd place in their arena on another terrific dressage score of 28. Tomorrow’s discplines are Roads and Tracks, Steeplechase and XC with SJ on Sunday.
Well done to our show jumpers Sara-Jane Larner , Noel Cochrane, Mikey Winn, Nicole Forwell, Joanne Brett and Adele Ronchetti at Hickstead today. No ribbons for our teams this time but a fun time had by all competing at this special venue. Top honours went to Mikey and Jackson for a clean sheet with Jo and Cooter and Noel and Tricky on just 4 faults.
